Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Pickoo handles personal data on this website, pickoo.ai, and on our waitlist. We collect as little as we can. The Pickoo app has not launched yet; it will come with its own updated privacy policy before you can use it.
Who is responsible
Pickoo is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@pickoo.ai.
What we collect and why
| Data | Why | Legal basis (GDPR) | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your email address, the time you joined and which version of this policy you saw | To tell you when Pickoo opens | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) | Until we have announced the launch and six months after, or until you leave the waitlist |
| A one-way hash of your IP address, mixed with the current date | To stop automated mass sign-ups | Our legitimate interest in keeping the waitlist free of abuse (Art. 6(1)(f)) | Deleted every week |
| Technical data your browser sends to any website: IP address, browser type, pages requested, time | To deliver the site and protect it from attacks; handled by our hosting provider | Our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f)) | As long as our hosting provider keeps its logs |
| What you write when you email us | To answer you | Our legitimate interest in replying, or steps before a contract (Art. 6(1)(b), (f)) | As long as needed to deal with your message |
Giving us your email is optional. Without it you can still use the whole website.
What we don't do
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking pixels on this website.
- We don't sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we never have.
- We don't use your data for automated decisions or profiling.
- Fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page doesn't send your IP address to a font service.
- The audio in the example story was recorded in advance with an AI voice and is played from our own site, so listening to it sends nothing to a speech service.
Who helps us
We use these service providers, who process data only on our instructions and under data processing agreements:
- Netlify, Inc. (United States) hosts the website and runs the waitlist. Waitlist entries are stored in Netlify's data center region in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Namecheap, Inc. (United States) provides our email (Private Email). Once a week we send ourselves a summary of new waitlist sign-ups, and we use it to answer your emails.
We may disclose data if the law requires it, for example to answer a valid court order.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Where they do, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK addendum and their Swiss equivalent, or another transfer mechanism that the law allows. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards.
Your rights
In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it or hand it over in a portable format. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests. You can withdraw your consent at any time; this doesn't affect what we did before. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live or work, the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
In the United States
Depending on your state, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others, you can ask to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it and to delete it. Because we don't sell or share personal information and don't use it for targeted advertising, there is nothing to opt out of; we still honor Global Privacy Control signals. We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights. You can use an authorized agent; we may ask them to show that you gave them permission.
How to ask
Email info@pickoo.ai, ideally from the address on our waitlist so we can confirm it's you. We answer within one month, or within 45 days where US state law sets that deadline.
Leaving the waitlist
Email us and we'll delete your address. Every email we send you about Pickoo will also include a way to unsubscribe.
Children
The waitlist is for people aged 16 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you think a child has given us their email, tell us and we'll delete it.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Access to the waitlist is limited to the people who run Pickoo, and we keep no more data than this policy describes.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your waitlist email, we'll tell you by email before it applies.
